Classic French cuisine gets a modern update in the capable hands of C.J. Reycraft, proprietor of Elm Street’s Amuse. Opened in January of 2014, Reycraft is pleased with the transformation his eatery has undergone. Describing the space, which served as a post office at the turn of the 20th century, as “warm and inviting,” the chef said the dining room’s focal point is a “very funky, cool chandelier,” which accents the tin ceiling. Butcher block knotted pine tables from the Pacific Northwest lend a lightness to the room. The bright and airy restaurant features a seasonally rotating menu that showcases locally sourced ingredients presented as sophisticated comfort food along with wonderful daily specials. Amuse is located at 39 Elm St. The restaurant is open for lunch from noon to 3 p.m.Tuesdays through Saturdays, for brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, for dinner from 5 to 9 p.m.Tuesdays through Thursdays, from 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and from 5 to 8 p.m. Sundays.
